Workplace education and training has, and will remain, an integral part of good business management. Systems for the assessment of training needs and ongoing training and competency management are an important factor in both managing the quality of work output of employees, and implementing a safe workplace.
The employer has a duty of care to provide sufficient information, training and supervision to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees. Training and competency is about:
- establishing training needs
- implementing training
- maintaining competency of the workforce
Training and competency requirements must be considered in the context of management personnel, employees and subcontractor management.
Principal contractors should ensure subcontractors working on their behalf can demonstrate that their employees have the requisite training and competencies.
Companies, in consultation with employees, shall determine the appropriate level of experience, competence and training necessary to ensure workforce competency.
In partnership with our training Suppliers, BSCAA can arrange training in Certificates II, III & IV of the Asset Maintenance Competency based training package at a discounted rate for members.
OH&S and Risk Management courses are available.

The NSW Division runs a 2 hour Quoting & Estimating course which is open to members and non-members.
