Employment Categories

Employees who are employed by an employer that is covered by the Cleaning Award would be employed as a:-

• Cleaning Services Employee Grade1 (which include Building Attendant Grade 1, Cleaner and/or Property Service Employee Grade 1); or
• Cleaning Services Employee Grade 2 (which includes Building Attendant Grade 2; Building Services Employee Grade 1, Cleaner Grade 2 and Property Services Employee Grade 2); or
• Cleaning Services Employee Grade 3 (which includes Building Attendant Grade 3; Building Services Employee Grade 2, Cleaner Grade 3 and/or Property Services Employee Grade 3).

A Cleaning Services Employee Grade 1 performs a range of tasks/functions, including, but not limited to:- spot cleaning of carpets and soft furnishings; sweeping and mopping; rubbish collection; cleaning of private residences; dusting; toilet cleaning; etc.

A Cleaning Services Employee Grade 2 performs a range of tasks/functions, including, but not limited to:- ordering and distribution of materials; leading hand role/functions; carpet cleaning; operating ride-on powered machinery; cleaning windows on the exterior of multi storey buildings; etc.

A Cleaning Services Employee Grade 3 performs a range of tasks/functions, including, but not limited to:- Supervision/co-ordination of leading hand/employees at Cleaning Services Employee Grade 1; on the job training; arranging service calls, etc.
