Classifications Translation

In undertaking the award modernisation process, the Australian Industrial Relations Commission established translation arrangements for all modern awards so employee classifications under former State and Federal Awards could translate to modern award classifications.

The translation arrangements in the Cleaning Services Award 2010 (Cleaning Award) are directly related to the transitional provisions set out in Schedule B of the Cleaning Award which is explained further in the Fact Sheet titled "Cleaning Service Award 2010 - Savings and Transitional Provisions".

The transtional arrangements in the Cleaning Award commenced operation on 1 January 2010 for national system employers and from 1 February 2011 from employers covered by Division 2B Awards in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia.
