JULIE McDONALD OAM - GUEST SPEAKER
BSCAA QLD DIVISION 2012 - AGM AND MEMBERS LUNCHEON
In Seoul 1988 Julie represented Australia as part of the Olympic Swimming Team. Australia won 3 medals in swimming that Games. Duncan Armstrong 1 gold 1 silver, Julie McDonald 1 bronze.
Julie has represented Australia in every swimming event from 1986 to 1992
Julie is a dual olympian and is the fastest 800 metres swimmer Australia has ever produced. She has beaten Tracey Wickham's record and also beaten Janet Evans in 1987.
Julie represented Australia 13 times, and was the first Australian to break 16 minutes for the 1500 metres freeystyle for women.
Julie has a swimming carnival named after her in Brisbane. Her achievements are remarkable and her dedication to raising funds for charity is well known. You may have received the call from her whilst Juliwe was working with the Queensland Surf Lifesaving Foundation.
Julie received her OAM in 2006 for her services to Swimming, The Olympic Movement and Charities.
TODAY Julie is a professional trainer with Daniels Associates and the HIA. She is much in demand for her motivational presentations in the corporate environment especially "Live Clean, Play Clean" Drug education.
